Company: Shook Construction Co., a construction company that serves clients in 13 states from its offices in Cleveland, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Dayton, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

Years Working in Construction: 5 years
How Rachel Started in the Construction Industry: “I think it really started with my aeronautical and religious upbringing that instilled industrial, mechanical curiosity as well as a desire to always do a good job as part of the community. And then I went to college for civil engineering. After a co-op with Shook, I decided that I preferred the executional aspects of contracting and the excitement of working on a construction site.”
What Rachel Loves Most About Her Job: “Quite literally the teamwork. With each project you meet new people and/or make new teams, and it is so rewarding when the collaboration and comradery turns into everyone working with and for each other.”
What Does It Mean to Rachel to Be a Woman in the Construction Industry? “To me, it means I am being the change I want to see in the world.”
What Career Advice Does Rachel Offer to Women Considering a Career in Construction?
Humans have been constructing shelters since the dawn of existence. We are more than overdue for more women in the industry.
