HOW APPRENTICESHIPS WORK

Apprenticeship is a time-honored approach to training skilled workers through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. Each apprenticeship occupation has its own standard training outline, which details the on-the-job training and classroom instruction required. Apprentices are full-time employees who produce high-quality work while they learn skills that enhance their employment prospects. As you learn and advance throughout the program, you move up on the pay scale, making apprenticeships a great option for a rewarding, well-paying career.

YOU HAVE OPTIONS

Construction apprenticeships are available for a variety of skilled trades including bricklayers, carpenters, electricians, painters, laborers and so many more. Now that you know an apprenticeship is for you, learn more about the skilled trades and find the right match for your interests and skills.

UNION APPRENTICESHIPS

Many apprenticeships are sponsored by local unions. Each union may specialize in a single trade or a few related trades. Union apprentices are partnered with a company for employment and have the advantage of union representation, including negotiated benefits, working conditions and wages

COMPANY-SPONSORED APPRENTICESHIPS

With company-sponsored apprenticeships, an apprentice applies directly through a specific employer. That company employs the apprentice and provides all hands-on and classroom training. Some employers offer apprenticeships in multiple trades.
